Trade rumors for Portland Trail Blazers forward Malcolm Brogdon are starting to heat up as the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline approaches. The New York Knicks have become one of the early favorites to secure the services of the 6’4 guard. Knicks beat writer Kris Pursiainen tweeted today that New York has “explored the option” of trading for Brogdon, potentially adding him to a roster recently depleted by their acquisition of forward OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors.
The Knicks have explored the option of trading for G Malcolm Brogdon, per multiple sources.
At least one other Eastern Conference playoff team has been in contact with Portland about the veteran guard.
Brogdon is represented by Klutch Sports.
Brogdon is 31 years old. As such, he does not match the timeline for a rebuilding Portland squad.
He his averaging 15.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 43.8% from the floor and 41.4% from the three-point arc in 27.9 minutes per game for the Blazers this year. Portland acquired Brogdon from the Boston Celtics in October, in the aftermath of trading point guard Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Blazers sent guard Jrue Holiday, acquired in the Lillard deal, to Boston in exchange for Brogdon, center Robert Williams III, and two first-round draft picks.
Brogdon is making $22.5 million this season. He is scheduled to do the same next year before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025.
