How Would You Feel if the Minnesota Timberwolves Won a Title?

The ‘Wolves are in first place and showing strong. What if?

After years and years of hapless futility which ended—checks watch—literally this season, the Minnesota Timberwolves currently sit atop the NBA’s Western Conference with a 28-11 record. They hold the second best mark in the league and are routinely beating tough opponents behind the defense of Rudy Gobert and the new team outlook of Karl-Anthony Towns.

The season isn’t even half over yet, but let’s play a thought game today. What if the Timberwolves maintained their advance through the 2024 NBA Playoffs, reached the Finals, and then won it? Again, that’s your 2024 NBA Champions: the Minnesota Timberwolves.

We want to know how you, as Portland Trail Blazers and NBA fans, would feel about this. The question is twofold.

First, it would mean that the ‘Wolves had achieved the turnaround and burst of success that the Blazers have been seeking since at least 2012, if not 2002. That would prove it could be done, adding salt to the abrasion of the Blazers not doing it.

Second, the Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets, and Toronto Raptors have all won titles in the past few years. These are not exactly household names. Would the Timberwolves be a franchise too far? It’d be ironic for Blazers fans to think that way because they also suffer from small-market obscurity. At the same time, it would just feel weird compared to the days when it the Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, Spurs, and Warriors treated championships like their birthright. Would it feel weird?

Give us your gut reaction in the comment section below. What would you say if the T-Wolves became the NBA Champion Minnesota Timberwolves?
