The Portland Trail Blazers now have another trade asset in their arsenal.
Jerami Grant has officially become eligible to be traded now that his Jan. 15 deadline has come and gone.
Grant signed a five-year, $160 million contract with the Blazers in July, making him unable to be traded — until now.
This doesn’t mean the Blazers will deal Grant, but there will be interest in him ahead of the trade deadline.
Grant, 29, is averaging 21.1 points per game for a rebuilding Blazers team that could net a future first-round pick and more for his services. That being said, the Blazers like Grant as a veteran to help the younger players on the roster and that could be more valuable than future draft capital and/or players that could help Portland blaze a trail towards the future.
The trade deadline is set for Thursday, Feb. 8 at 12 noon PT.
