There's been plenty of talk about our #3 pick, as there should be, it's quite possibly the 2nd most important draft pick in Franchise history (Bill Walton holding down the top spot). But, let's not forget about our other picks, we still have #'s 23 and 43. It's been a while since I've seen any discussion on those, so I'm a bit curious if your opinions have evolved over the past month (I know mine have... Especially as Lively keeps climbing up mock draft boards). Personally, I'm trying not to get excited about #23, as I believe it will be traded along with Ant to appease Dame. But the opportunity remains. Who is that late 1st and early 2nd rounder you think could be our diamond in the rough?
Notable 2nd Rounders include - Doc Rivers, Paul Millsap, Mark Price, Maurice Cheeks, Carlos Boozer, Nick Van Exel, UNCLE CLIFF!, JEROME KERSEY!, Manute Bol, Toni Kukoc, Draymond Green, Jeff Hornacek, Marc Gasol, Manu Ginobli and soon to be NBA Finals Champ and MVP Nikola Jokic.
For my money, and the fact that I love Boom or Bust prospects: With the 43rd pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers select - Emoni Bates. The 6'8 SF brimming with all the potential in the world! Sure, it'd be nice if he had a longer wingspan and was more athletic, but maybe a professional setting is what he needs to unlock his true potential?
And not to be a pooper: With the 23rd pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers select - Kris Murray the 6'8.75 PF out of Iowa. Because he's a Junior, his draft stock isn't as high as the freshmen PF's in this class, but he is hands down the 3rd best PF prospect in the draft and the best offensively (not hands down, but still). Murray and Walker have similar averages across the board, but two categories stand out that make him the pick here: 3pt attempts and FT%
3's
Jarace - .347 on 3.7 atts
Murray - .335 on 7 atts.
FT's
Jarace - .662 on 2.9 atts.
Murray - .729 on 4.2 atts
Who you all got in the 2nd? Cuz that's what I'm most interested in hearing and why. And hey, if you want to throw in your choice for 23 too, let'er rip!
