Trail Blazers Quarter-Season Awards: Most Disappointing

Which Portland player hasn’t lived up to expectations this season?

The Portland Trail Blazers own a 6-16 record after 22 games of the 2023-24 regular season. They’re just passing the quarter pole for the year. That’s enough time to get an idea who they are while leaving room for hope and growth in the future. The Trail Blazers today—December 13th, 2023—look far different than the squad that started the season back in October. They’ll look different yet at the NBA All-Star Break.

In deference to that rapid, near-constant change, we’re resurrecting an old Blazer’s Edge tradition today: the Quarter-Season Awards. We’re asking you to vote for players in five different categories, nominating one (1) in each. At the end, we’ll tally the votes and see who walks away with the trophy. We’ll do it again at the halfway mark of the year and see how things have evolved.

For a few years now, this exercise has been tame or, frankly, non-existent. Voting for anyone else but Damian Lillard for MVP was nigh impossible. Most other roles on the team were set too. This year the excitement is back and the field is wide open! We want your opinion accordingly.

The polls for Most Improved Player and Defensive Player of the Quarter came earlier. You can still join those discussions. But now we move to a more difficult category: Most Disappointing Player

“Disappointing” is, by nature, subjective. It depends wholly on your expectations versus a player’s performance. We want to hear who you’d name anyway, especially since the aforementioned roster volatility (and growth curve) may produce a radically different result at the halfway mark of the year.

The comment section is open for your votes! Choose one (1) player for this category and share why you picked them over everyone else. Enjoy the conversation!
