The Portland Trail Blazers have announced that they are making some changes to the roster, and Rose City Report insider Sean Highkin provided some insight.
The Blazers have assigned Ish Wainright to the Rip City Remix — an encouraging sign for his recovery from a left MCL sprain. The team announced on 11/18 that he would miss 4-6 weeks with the injury.
Wainright, 29, has played in just two games this season for the Blazers since being acquired in the Damian Lillard trade this summer, but it appears he could be making his return soon. Four weeks from the announcement would be this upcoming Saturday, and the Blazers host the Dallas Mavericks. The next night, the Blazers also host the Golden State Warriors. Perhaps either of those games could be a target for Wainright’s return.
Between now and then, the Remix has two games against G League Ignite where he could play to get back up to speed before having a chance to play with the NBA squad.
