As such is tradition, the Portland Trail Blazers have recalled Kris Murray, Rayan Rupert and Moses Brown from their assignment with the Rip City Remix, the team announced on social media. The one-day assignment with the G League affiliate included a 103-100 home win over the Stockton Kings on Saturday and a great performance from Brown.
The 7-foot-2, 24-year-old Brown put up 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting and 15 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end.
Murray, who provided some solid minutes for the Trail Blazers this week after a series of DNPs, had a trying game with his shot against Stockton. The 23-year-old rookie went 2-of-10 from the floor for four points, but grabbed 10 rebounds. Rupert produced 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting, including a 3-of-7 outing on 3-pointers. The rookie also added four rebounds and four assists.
Forward Justin Minaya, the only other Remix player besides Murray to play for the Trail Blazers against Dallas on Friday, registered 12 points and nine rebounds on 4-of-11 shooting from the field. Elsewhere on the Remix roster, familiar favorite Moe Harkless had a tough game, going 0-of-3 from the floor for zero points and five rebounds in 18 minutes.
The big performance from Brown is a welcome sight. It marked Brown’s second straight game with over 20 points and 10 rebounds. With Trail Blazers starting center Deandre Ayton’s status still uncertain for Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, and Portland struggling on the glass lately, perhaps coach Chauncey Billups looks to Brown for at least some spot minutes.
