The Rip City Remix is celebrating a 113-108 win against the Salt Lake City Stars on Friday afternoon inside the Chiles Center.
The Remix kept pace with the Stars in the first quarter, but jumped out to a lead as large as 17 points thanks to a strong defensive showing.
However, the Stars took the lead back in the third quarter with an offensive explosion, scoring 33 points in the frame while also holding the Remix to 15 points.
In the fourth quarter, the momentum swung back in the Remix’s favor and the teams were tied going into the final moments of the game. In the final minute, the Remix went on a 9-2 run that iced the game, headlined by six points from point guard Ashton Hagans and a huge 3-point shot from Portland Trail Blazers second-round pick Rayan Rupert.
Rupert finished the game with 24 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Malachi Smith scored a team-high 25. New two-way center Ibou Badji finished with six points in 25 minutes.
The Remix and Stars will take part in a rematch on Sunday. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT.
