The day after the Portland Trail Blazers 2020-21 season ended, a Damian Lillard Instagram post elicited serious questions about the superstar’s future in the Pacific Northwest.
While Lillard’s long-term future with the franchise is never certain, the All-Star has again taken to Instagram to profess his love for Portland and his eagerness to return.
The post features a picture of Lillard high-fiving fans with words reading “Back for more...#RipCity is my city.”
Earlier this offseason, True Hoop’s Henry Abbott reported that Lillard was on the verge of demanding a trade from Portland, further fuelling speculation that the point guard might be looking elsewhere.
Lillard also told reporters last season’s Blazers roster wasn’t good enough to contend for a title.
However, Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reported last month that Lillard was prepared to give the Blazers and rookie Head Coach Chauncey Billups a chance.
Lillard has spent all nine of his NBA seasons with the Blazers, earning six All Star nods, one All NBA First team, four All NBA Second team appearances and an All NBA Third team berth.
