Is the Portland Trail Blazers roster deeper this season? One of the things we talked about on the latest edition of the Dave and Dia Podcast (dropping shortly) is the difference between Media Day claims and in-season reality. During Trail Blazers Media Day, 2021, we heard the familiar claim that the Blazers were fielding the deepest roster around superstar guard Damian Lillard that they ever had.
Today’s discussion question, in anticipation of the podcast: Do you think that’s true?
For perspective, here’s Portland’s roster last season and this underneath the Big 3 of Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Jusuf Nurkic:
2020-21
Norman Powell/Gary Trent, Jr. and Rodney Hood, Robert Covington, Enes Kanter, Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Jones, Jr., Anfernee Simons, Nassir Little, Harry Giles III, CJ Elleby, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
2021-22 (Pending cuts)
Norman Powell, Robert Covington, Larry Nance, Jr., Cody Zeller, Anfernee Simons, Nassir Little, Tony Snell, Ben McLemore, CJ Elleby, Dennis Smith, Jr., Marquese Chriss, Patrick Patterson, Quinn Cook, Greg Brown III
Do you think this year’s team is deeper than last year’s, and/or all Lillard lineups of yore? Why or why not? Discuss below.
