The Church of Roy podcast returned this week to recap the talking points that emerged from the Trail Blazers’ media day. Hosts Brian Wilcox and Steve Dewald dive into the comments made by Neil Olshey, Damian Lillard, Chauncey Billups, CJ McCollum, and Norman Powell.
Both Brian and Steve thought that Olshey did a solid job covering the Blazers’ upside for next season and the role that coach Billups will undertake. Lillard, as usual, delivered strong comments that generated confidence for the year ahead in Portland. Plus, who doesn’t love to see Lillard with an Olympic medal?

For McCollum, Brian and Steve commented on his ability to navigate the constant stream of trade rumors and speculation. Outside of the action on the court, Steve discussed how McCollum’s role in the NBPA is in the spot light as player vaccinations capture headlines.
Finally, Brian and Steve highlight the comments that Larry Nance Jr., Jusuf Nurkic, and Powell made. One thing is clear, Nance Jr. has emerged as an early frontrunner to become a fan favorite this season. Powell also impressed by providing an interesting look behind the curtain of the free-agent process.
