Former Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford’s summer Pro-Am event, The CrawsOver, will be making its return after a one-year hiatus. The event serves to celebrate many of the most heralded basketball stars throughout the Pacific Northwest. As Percy Allen of The Seattle Times reports, Blazers’ 2020 second-round pick CJ Elleby is set to participate at the event.

Elleby joins a star-studded crop that includes current NBA players, such as San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine, Matisse Thybulle of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr., among others. Former players, such as Isaiah Thomas, Tony Wroten Jr., and Jamal Crawford will be in action as well.
As Allen notes, it’s commonplace for a surprise player — in the past it was Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, Paul George, etc — to make an appearance. He also hits on some key notes, such as the eight-game regular season prior to the single-elimination Playoffs.
It marks a chance to see Elleby in action against professional talent after a rookie season in which he was used sparingly. In 2020-21, Elleby logged 192 minutes over 30 games, and averaged 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds on 37.9 percent shooting.
