Former Trail Blazers point guard Damon Stoudamire is headed to Boston to join Ime Udoka’s coaching staff. According to Stadium Basketball Analyst Jeff Goodman, the two Portland natives will reunite in Boston.

BREAKING: Pacific head coach and former NBA point guard Damon Stoudamire will be joining new Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka’s staff as an assistant, source told @Stadium. They grew up together in Portland.

Absolutely LOVE this hire by Udoka.

Prior to joining Udoka’s staff, Stoudamire served as head coach for Pacific’s basketball program. During his time there, he recorded a record of 71-77. As a player, Stoudamire appeared in 529 regular season games with the Trail Blazers. Udoka and Stoudamire played together briefly in San Antonio during the 2007-08 season. Stoudamire appeared in 34 games that season, his final stint in the NBA as a player.

Udoka secured the Celtics’ head coach position following Brad Stevens’ promotion to the front office. Stevens’ move was triggered by Danny Aigne’s departure from the Celtics.
