Baylor forward Mark Vital is headed to Las Vegas Summer League as a member of the Trail Blazers’ roster. According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, Vital has agreed to a deal with Portland.
Baylor’s Mark Vital will join the Portland Trailblazers summer league roster, his agent Adie Von Gontard told ESPN. Vital, a three-time Big 12 all-defensive team member, was a key part of Baylor’s national championship team this season.
Vital, a 250-pound forward, was a feature player on Baylor’s run to the NCAA Tournament title. Due to his relentless motor and excellent vision, Vital concluded his college career with a spot on the Big 12 All-Defensive First Team.
Vital is not afraid to mix it up underneath on both ends of the floor. In the post, he operates as a traditional power forward at the height of a modern point guard. His in-the-margin production is supplemented with his solid decision making. Vital averaged 5.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last season.
Vital will join Milton Doyle and Michael Beasley as players that have signed on to join the Blazers in Las Vegas next month. If you are keeping track at home, Portland’s roster could include the following players:
- CJ Elleby | G
- Emmanuel Mudiay | G
- Milton Doyle | G
- Greg Brown | F
- Trendon Watford | F
- Michael Beasley | F
- Mark Vital | F
