Edniesha Curry to Join Blazers’ Coaching Staff

According to The Athletic’s Jason Quick, former WNBA guard and University of Maine men’s basketball assistant coach Edniesha Curry is headed to the Trail Blazers.

The Trail Blazers are set to add Edniesha Curry to Chauncey Billups’ newly-forming coaching staff. According to The Athletic’s Jason Quick, the former University of Oregon guard has reached an agreement with the Blazers.

Edniesha Curry has joined Chauncey Billups staff on the Trail Blazers. Curry played at Oregon and is a former WNBA guard. She has been an assistant for the University of Maine men’s team since 2018.

Curry started her college playing career at Cal State Northridge. She finished her college career with the Ducks. From college, Curry was drafted in the third round of the 2002 WNBA Draft. As a professional, Curry played both in the WNBA and overseas.

In 2015, Curry joined University of Maine women’s basketball program as an assistant. Since 2018, Curry has operated as an assistant coach for the men’s program in Orono, ME. Last season, the Maine Black Bears played just nine games before cancelling the remainder of their contests due to COVID-19 concerns.

Curry will join Scott Brooks and Roy Rogers on Billups’ staff for the 2021-22 season.
