Team USA put a two-loss exhibition schedule in the past with a solid send-off victory over Spain on Sunday. Led by Damian Lillard’s 19 points, Team USA secured a 83-76 victory in the final matchup of the exhibition schedule in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After the victory, Lillard explained that it was important to wrap up the pre-Tokyo slate with a win.
“It was really important. After the first two games, and then our third game we played well and got a win, and then coming out tonight against a really good team, continuing to trend in the right direction. I thought it was a great performance by us.”
Outside of his scoring, Lillard chipped in six assists. On the defensive end, Lillard secured four steals, two blocks and four rebounds. For Spain, Ricky Rubio led all scorers with 23 points. Former Blazers Victor Claver, Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Rodriguez and Pau Gasol combined for 23 points in the loss.
