The Trail Blazers’ coaching search, that led to the hiring of Chauncey Billups, placed star guard Damian Lillard in an awkward position. On Sunday, Yahoo Sports NBA Insider Chris Haynes highlighted that Lillard’s relationship with the Blazers could be deteriorating at a significant pace. That accelerated pace could potentially lead to Lillard eventually requesting a trade out of Portland.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst commented on the situation that is brewing in Portland. Windhorst detailed his knowledge of Lillard’s potential unhappiness inside the latest episode of Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective podcast.

“I don’t believe, based on my conversations, that Dame is serious at this point about saying that he wants out. But I do think he was put in a very uncomfortable position, and partially because of his own making.”

Windhorst’s Blazers-focused discussion picks up around the 31-minute mark of the episode. He goes on to detail Lillard’s role in the coaching search and the overall impact that this could have on the Blazers moving forward.
