Nets assistant coach Mike D’Antoni is among the coaching candidates that the Trail Blazers will meet with for a second interview this week. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, D’Antoni has made it to the next round of the Blazers’ coaching search.
Sources: Brooklyn Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni will get a second interview for the Portland job this week. Spurs assistant Becky Hammon met Monday for her second and Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups will also meet again with the Blazers this week.
Along with D’Antoni, Becky Hammon and Chauncey Billups have also made it to the next stage of Portland’s process.
D’Antoni’s past includes head coaching stints with the Nuggets, Suns, Knicks, Lakers and Rockets. During those stops, he amassed a regular season record of 672-527. D’Antoni served as an assistant on Steve Nash’s coaching staff with the Nets in the 2020-21 season. The Nets exited the 2021 NBA Playoffs over the weekend.
