Regardless of the discussions that might have occurred inside the Trail Blazers’ front office, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is content in Miami. Following a now-removed social media message from Five Reasons Sports Network’s Ethan Skolnick, Trail Blazers radio voice Travis Demers downplayed the speculation regarding a potential homecoming for Spoelstra.

Demers, citing an unnamed source close to the situation, explained that any rumor that is tied to Spoelstra and the Blazers should be dismissed.

A source close to me that has intimate knowledge of the situation has told me that any rumors involving Erik Spoelstra and the Trail Blazers are dead, he is staying in Miami.

Spoelstra, a former player at the University of Portland, joined the Heat’s coaching staff prior to the 1997-98 season. Following his promotion to head coach, the Heat have claimed two NBA Championships and three separate Eastern Conference Championships.

Welp. That fever dream was fun while it lasted.
