Former Portland Trail Blazers trainer Ron Culp has passed away. Culp, who finished his career with the Miami Heat, served on Portland’s staff from 1974 to 1987. Miami Herald writer Barry Jackson delivered the somber news regarding Culp’s passing via a message on social media.

Sad news: Longtime former Heat trainer Ron Culp has died. In 2000-2001, Culp became just the second trainer in league history to work 30 seasons in the NBA.

Culp’s time with the Blazers included the organization’s run to the 1977 NBA Championship. Outside of his work with the Blazers and Heat, Culp served as a trainer for Team USA in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

On behalf of our entire staff at Blazer’s Edge, our thoughts are with Culp’s family at this time.
