Blazers Star Damian Lillard Commits to Team USA for Tokyo Olympics

Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard is among the initial commitments to Team USA’s squad for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. On Tuesday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Joe Vardon revealed that Lillard and Warriors defensive maestro Draymond Green have signaled their intent to join Team USA.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green are among the initial commitments to Team USA for the Tokyo Olympics this summer, sources tell The Athletic.

The report from The Athletic also detailed a rough timeline for the festivities ahead.

Training camp begins July 6 in Las Vegas with coach Gregg Popovich, with rosters expected to be set by late June. The group stage of the tournament runs from July 25 to Aug. 1, with the knockout stage running from Aug. 3 to Aug. 7.

Lillard attended Team USA camp in the lead up to the 2016 Olympics. He eventually removed himself for consideration before final selections were made.
