Potential first-time NBA head coaches Becky Hammon and Kara Lawson are expected to entertain offers from teams with vacancies this offseason. As reported by Boardroom and Jeff Garcia of News4SanAntonio, fans of the Boston Celtics, one of the teams searching for a head coach, put their opinion on display by advocating for Hammon or Lawson on a billboard located outside the team’s facilities.

It was announced on Jun. 2 that Brad Stevens would be the successor to Danny Ainge, taking over as president of basketball operations. On Monday, Adam Himmelsbach of Boston Globe reported that the Celtics’ search for a new head coach could take a few weeks. Like the Portland Trail Blazers, their search for a new coach will be closely monitored. Hammon, along with Clippers’ assistant coach Chauncey Billups, are set to interview with the Blazers this week.
Since 2014-15, Hammon has worked as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs. Earlier this season, she became the first woman to coach an NBA team. Lawson has experience as a former Celtics assistant coach, but pivoted to a head coaching job with the Duke women’s basketball team this past season. Celtics fans are hoping for a franchise “shake-up” via a new coach.
