Nets assistant coach Mike D’Antoni is interviewing for the Trail Blazers’ vacant head coach position on Monday. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, D’Antoni is the first of three candidates to be interviewed by the Blazers this week.
On Monday, Wojnarowski updated the Blazers’ coaching search in a message posted on Twitter.
Brooklyn Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni is interviewing for the Portland Trail Blazers coaching job today, sources tell ESPN. Two more assistant coaches — the Clippers’ Chauncey Billups and the Spurs’ Becky Hammon — are set to interview with Portland early this week, too.
Along with D’Antoni, the Blazers will also interview Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups and Spurs assistant Becky Hammon this week.
D’Antoni’s past includes head coaching stints with the Nuggets, Suns, Knicks, Lakers and Rockets. During those stops, he amassed a regular season record of 672-527. D’Antoni is currently an assistant on Steve Nash’s coaching staff with the Brooklyn Nets.
