After the win over the Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers’ point guard Damian Lillard reflected on what the win meant to the team and to himself. Asked “how important it was to set the tone in the series,” Lillard had a lot to say.
“It was really important. You know, I think any time you start a series on the road, you’re going into it thinking we need to at least win one and heading back home, we gotta have one of those first two. It’s a major statement to be able to get the first one. We came in saying we was going to play tough, and try to take it a game at a time, and you know we came out and jumped out to a lead. Getting the first one is really important, but it’s the first of four and it’s only gonna get harder from here. But I think that starting off with a win on the road is great for us.”

Let’s hope they can make it 2 for 2.
