Portland Trail Blazers Head Coach Terry Stotts has been named the Western Conference Coach of the Month in the NBA, per the Trail Blazers. He was awarded the honor alongside New York Knicks Head Coach Tom Thibodeau. The recognition comes after leading the team to a 7-2 record over the month.

It has been a bumpy season for Stotts. A string of losses led to widespread speculation that he would be out following the 2020-21 season. Despite the furor, Stotts remained focused on coaching the Blazers, stating to Aaron Fentress of the Oregonian:

“Every NBA season has ups and downs,” Stotts said following Wednesday’s win at Cleveland. “I can’t remember a season that was smooth sailing all of the time. ... I look at this season so far with CJ missing 25 games and Nurkic missing 35, riding the tides of the highs and lows, that’s just part of the NBA. Every team goes through it and this year is no different.”

However, there were highlights to be had, too, as Stotts marked 400 wins with the Trail Blazers, only second in franchise history to the legendary Dr. Jack Ramsay.

Congratulations to Coach Stotts on the honor.
