Damian Lillard has been named the NBA Player of the Week for the Western Conference in the week ending May 16th, 2021. Lillard shares the honor with Eastern Conference nominee Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks. Lillard averaged 31.8 points and 6.8 assists per game in four games versus the Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, and Denver Nuggets. He shot 57.9% from the field and 45.7% from the three-point arc during that span. The Blazers went 3-1 and clinched the 6th seed in the Western Conference playoffs bracket.
Lillard has earned Player of the Week honors 3 times this season and 12 times during his career. His 12 Player of the Week honors are the most in franchise history.
The Blazers will face the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs. Lillard projects to be a key matchup advantage for Portland as they seek to unseat the 3rd seed.
