Earlier this week, former Oregon Ducks and current Memphis Grizzlies player Dillon Brooks made it clear that the Grizzlies aimed to sweep the Portland Trail Blazers after winning two on the Blazers’ home court. After the win over Memphis, Norman Powell had some things to say about Brooks’ statement according to Casey Holdahl of Trailblazers.com.
“We saw the quote that Dillon Brooks put out about wanting to sweep us and we couldn’t allow that to happen,” said Norman Powell. “They got two on our home floor so we had to come out with an aggressive mindset, defensively and offensively. I thought we were able to sustain that throughout the course of the game.”
Powell had 24 points in the win over Memphis.
Given that Blazer’s Edge picked up the quote from the Daily Memphian, a local Memphis paper, it seems safe to say that Powell and his teammates saw it here first.
