The Portland Trail Blazers have struggled putting together a glamorous on-court product in recent weeks, but according to ESPN Senior Writer Zach Lowe, they’ve at least looked the part. In this week’s edition of “Ten NBA Things I Like and Dislike,” Lowe praised the Blazers’ mismatched shoe design, using former Portland guard Gary Trent Jr. as an example.
In the photo, Trent Jr. has one black shoe and one red shoe. He also applauded the Blazers’ black and red color scheme, while also throwing in a subtle jab at Portland’s grey “Earned” jersey threads.
“Red and black is unassailable — the league should mandate Portland start any game in which they wear their hideous gray alternates down 5-0 — but this can work for any team.”
Lowe hits on some of the NBA’s more unheralded players, schemes, and nuances across the league in the rest of the article. The link to that can be found above (subscription required).
