Lillard is averaging 28.7 points and 7.7 assists per game for the Blazers so far this season. However, in recent weeks he has been banged up by opposing defenses. He missed a game against the Orlando Magic in order to rest in late March after knocking knees with Josh RIchardson of the Dallas Mavericks in an earlier game. He’s dealt with a number of smaller injuries in the past few weeks.
General managers and team health and performance personnel have noted that the compressed schedule is leading to more injuries around the league. The schedule has a number of home back-to-backs as well as travel back-to-backs, causing fatigue. It is likely Lillard could use the rest.
