CJ McCollum will suit up for the Portland Trail Blazers against the New Orleans Pelicans tomorrow night, following a two-month break recovering from a broken foot, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic. The shooting guard has been waiting for the all-clear from the Blazers’ health and performance team.
Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum will make his return to the lineup on Tuesday vs. New Orleans. He's back from a fractured foot.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) March 15, 2021
McCollum fractured his left foot in the team’s game against the Atlanta Hawks on January 16. The Blazers have gone 15-11 since McCollum went down with Gary Trent Jr. replacing him as the starting shooting guard for most part. McCollum will provide some much-needed ball-handling respite for Damian Lillard, who has been carrying the lion share of the offensive load since McCollum’s injury.
Before his injury, McCollum was putting up career-best numbers with 26.7 points, 5 assists and 3.9 rebounds.
Earlier today it was reported that Jusuf Nurkic would also make his return to the team in two weeks time after suffering a broken wrist. Nurkic’s slow start to the season was illustrated by averages of 9.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
