Former NBA star big man Pau Gasol denied rumors that he reached a deal with Liga ACB side Barcelona earlier this week. Gasol, who last played in the NBA in the 2018-19 season with the Spurs and Bucks, cleared up the confusion on social media.

The Associated Press highlighted the story on Saturday.

Pau Gasol denied Spanish media reports on Saturday that he has reached a deal to return to Spain to play for Barcelona.

Gasol said on Twitter he remains “focused on my recovery and I am not ready to get back to competing just yet.”

Gasol is expected to make another push towards returning to action prior to the 2021 Olympics. In the 2019 offseason, Gasol reached a one-year agreement with the Trail Blazers. Unfortunately for both sides, Gasol was unable to overcome lingering foot issues and was released from his contract before he was able to make his on-court debut in Portland.

A veteran of 18 seasons, Gasol possesses career averages of 17.0 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
