The Trail Blazers climbed three games above .500 with Tuesday’s 106-97 victory over the Magic. Due to Portland’s list of injuries, the effort in any victory should be recognized. Following the game, Damian Lillard highlighted the Blazers’ current mentality.

NBC Sports Northwest’s Dwight Jaynes highlighted Lillard’s postgame comments. With CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic out of the lineup, Lillard acknowledged that the Blazers must position themselves for victories whenever an opportunity is presented.

“It’s really important to not drop another game because we lost the last one,” Lillard said. “Given our situation, with injuries and things like that, with our team, we’ve got to take advantage of every opportunity that we get.

Lillard went on to explain that it was crucial that the Blazers bounced back against a team that is enduring its own injury issues.

“We played another team tonight that was beat up, on our home floor. Our schedule was rearranged and it kind of played into our favor. So, you know, things like that happen and you know you’re in a better position than you were in before. And then your opponent is banged up. It’s important to take advantage of these games and get them done and so tonight I was happy that we bounced back and took care of business.”

In the win, Lillard dropped 36 points and connected on all 13 of his attempts from the free throw line. The Blazers return to action on Thursday with a matchup against the Sixers.
