Portland Trail Blazers centre Cody Zeller will have surgery on Friday to repair the nose broken against the Golden State Warriors on Monday, according to The Athletic’s Jason Quick.

A timeline for his return is still to be determined with Zeller to be fitted with a mask.

Zeller’s first appearance as a Blazer ended towards the end of the third quarter after Andre Iguodala accidently elbowed the big man in the nose.

Iguodala instantly realized the extent of the injury as Zeller motioned towards the bench before exiting the game.

Zeller registered eight points and seven board in 13 minutes off the bench before the incident.

The 29-year-old signed a veteran minimum contract with the Blazers at the start of free agency after averaging 8.7 points, 6 rebounds and 1.4 assists over eight years with the Charlotte Hornets.

Zeller hasn’t played more than 58 games in a season since 2016-17.
