Markelle Fultz of the Orlando Magic has suffered a season-ending ACL injury, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The 22-year-old point guard had been starting, averaging 14.3 points and 6.1 assists per game for the 5-2 Magic so far this season. The injury occurred during the first quarter of Orlando’s game with the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was a non-contact injury.
Team has announced. Fultz will miss rest of season. Brutal blow for Magic and their young point guard. https://t.co/39NbLuWc4S

Fultz was the first-overall selection of the 2017 NBA Draft, taken by the Philadelphia 76’ers. The Sixers traded him in February of 2019 and he extended his contract with Orlando prior to this season. That extension will earn him nearly $17 million per year between 2021 and 2023, with an option year in 2023-24.
