Acquiring PJ Tucker Could Help The Blazers

Houston’s big man could fill a hole on Portland’s roster.

The Portland Trail Blazers are struggling with injuries, and James Herbert of CBS Sports has a solution: acquire P.J. Tucker from the Houston Rockets. The gap left in the frontcourt due to injuries to both Zach Collins and Jusuf Nurkic is significant, and the Blazers have continued to struggle on defense, something Tucker could help with.

Tucker would help them get through this painful period without Jusuf Nurkic and Zach Collins. Their defense has been atrocious, and they desperately need to address that, even if it means the coaching staff (or front office) will have to make some difficult decisions when the team is healthier.

According to Herbert, Tucker is on an expiring contract worth some $8 million. A trade for Tucker would fit into the “we want to win now” mold, but it is yet to be seen whether the Blazers’ front office has the stomach to make any moves.
