Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is sometimes called “The Alphabet” because of the 12 unique letters, and 20 overall, in his name. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, he can now add six more: MVP MVP. Woj tweeted today that Antetokounmpo has won his second straight NBA Most Valuable Player award.

The win places Antetokounmpo alongside Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, LeBron James, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Moses Malone, Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, and Steph Curry as multi-time recipients of the award. Antetokounmpo was also named NBA Defensive Player of the year for 2020. Only Jordan, Giannis, and Hakeem Olajuwon have won both awards in the same season.

Antetokounmpo averaged 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while shooting 55.3% from the floor in 63 games for the Bucks this year.

Update:

Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard received a single third-place vote, 4 fourth-place votes, and 6 fifth-place votes for a total of 23 points finishing 8th overall in the MVP race.
