Sacramento Kings General Manager Vlade Divac has stepped down from his position after five years as the lead executive for the organization. Joe Dumars will take the role on an interim basis as the Kings search for Divac’s replacement. Sam Amick tweeted the news earlier today.
Kings GM Vlade Divac is stepping down, source tells @TheAthleticNBA. Joe Dumars (advisor previously) will be interim executive VP of basketball ops and immediately assumes GM duties. Dumars will be involved in the search for a new GM.— Sam Amick (@sam_amick) August 14, 2020
Divac’s tenure has been beset by issues, including poor draft picks (passing on Luca Doncic in favor of Marvin Bagley in 2018 being a prime example) and repeated failure to make the playoffs. The Kings finished the year with a 31-41 record, their 14th straight season below .500.
