Damian Lillard’s Walk-off Interview on TNT

“Our season is on the line … I’m not going to sleep well tonight knowing that I was just passive.”

Damian Lillard capped off a brilliant three game stretch with 42 points and 12 assists last night in a 134-133 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Chris Haynes spoke with Lillard on TNT right after the game. Haynes asked Lillard what he was thinking when he put up a shot from the half court logo:

Our season is on the line, and maybe 2.5, 3.5 minutes went by where I was just trying to make the right play. You know, two guys were coming to me, and I was just outletting it to the first guy I saw so we could attack them and have an advantage. And then it got to the point where I was like, “I’m not going to sleep well tonight knowing that I was just passive and made the right play.” So, each time I saw a look—I don’t care how far it was or if somebody was close to me—if I had a sniff I was raising up and shooting it, and that’s why I shot that one.

Lillard also praised the Nets and Caris LeVert, and complimented CJ McCollum’s defense on LeVert in the final possession. You can check out the whole walk off interview here:
