Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum recorded a videocast with Dr. Esther Choo of the Oregon Health & Science University this week, part of the “Hoopers Meet Heroes” series. The doctor and the shooting guard share a common hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. They chatted for half an hour about COVID-19, its developments, and effects.

In the interview, the pair talk about the ways they found out about the virus, its effect on the State of Oregon, and McCollum’s work in China and with schools in the local area. Dr. Choo shares what effect emergency measures have had, and the need for more study and equipment as the country begins to open up again into a position of “watchful waiting”.

The interview is not only entertaining and informative, it’s meant to call attention to the need for Personal Protective Equipment, or PPE. Medical personnel need personal and filtration masks, shields, medical gowns, and more. The videocast links a charity organization helping provide such.
