If you have been wondering whether we have jumped timelines and the apocalypse is upon us, doubt no more. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports is reporting that the NBA will drop Spalding as the supplier of official game balls, moving to Wilson. The change will begin in the 2021-22 season.

Spalding has been the official basketball of the NBA since the 1983-84 season. Wilson held that honor for most of the four decades prior.
The last time the NBA made adjustments to their game ball, adopting a synthetic version in 2006, things did not go so well. We’ll hope this change works out better.
