Before the Oscar festivities get underway Sunday evening, Blazer’s Edge is asking its readers to participate in a series of Blazers-themed awards. Each category will include three nominees and a brief list of accolades.

Breakout Player

Gary Trent Jr. | 6.6 PTS | 40.8 3P%

Following a year out of the spotlight, Trent Jr. has emerged as a reliable bench contributor. In his last ten games, Trent Jr. is averaging 13.9 points per game.

Nassir Little | 3.8 PTS | 2.5 REB

Little endured a draft-day slide, but it appears that he landed in the right place. Featured in 39 regular season games (five starts), Little has shown he has a relentless motor. His lack of numbers are mitigated by his effort.

Hassan Whiteside | 15.8 PTS | 14.1 REB

Whiteside has turned back the clock to his highly-productive days in Miami. Positioned to become a free agent this summer, the big fella is near the top of the league in a litany of categories.
