After a contentious and controversial game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Utah Jazz, star point guard Donovan Mitchell had a few choice words about the performance of Gary Trent Jr., who would not back down. Trent Jr. has worked hard on improving his defense, snagging 4 steals against the Jazz. His improvement also showed in Mitchell’s remarks following the game in Salt Lake.
Donovan Mitchell: “I don’t see why a guy like Gary Trent should come in and think he can just punk us. ... We’re not a team that you can come in and just talk trash to. We’re not just gonna back down. ... That’s what we kinda lacked the past few games — just toughness.” pic.twitter.com/Repl9u006a

Mitchell’s comment did not go unnoticed by the leader of the Blazers, Damian Lillard.

Mitchell was quick to respond.

Meanwhile, the target of the remarks just laughed.

Trent Jr. must be doing something right to draw all of this attention. Perhaps that is the best revenge after such a loss.
