Trail Blazers vs. Sacramento Kings Tips Tonight!

Portland’s preseason schedule starts tonight with a game against the Sacramento Kings. Talk about it here!

The Portland Trail Blazers will open their 2020 Preseason Schedule tonight with a 7:30 PM game against the Sacramento Kings. The game will be televised on NBCSports Northwest and ESPN, broadcast also on Rip City Radio 620 in Portland.

The Kings will feature former Trail Blazers center Hassan Whiteside this season, while the Blazers will run with several new players, including Robert Covington, Derrick Jones, Jr., and Enes Kanter, plus returning veterans Rodney Hood and Carmelo Anthony. Hood will not play tonight, and it’s unlikely that we’ll see a fully armed and operation Blazers rotation in Game 1 of exhibition anyway, but this is Blazers basketball and it’s back!

This will serve as your Game Day Thread for the day and evening, a warm up for the start of the season in a couple weeks. For those unfamiliar with how the site works, welcome! Here’s our flow every day there’s a game:

In the morning, you’ll get a preview with information about how to watch, details of the matchup for the day, and a few observations about this particular game and its context.

An hour or so before tip-off, we’ll open a Game Day Thread like this one. You’re free to chat all evening about the contest with friends from the site. We only ask a couple things:

  • Don’t use gifs or videos in Game Day Threads because it slows down the comment section
  • Don’t troll in your comments; create conversation rather than destroying it
  • Remember Blazer’s Edge is basically a non-profanity site
  • Out of respect to broadcast partners who have paid to carry the game, no mentions of “alternative” (read: illegal) viewing methods are allowed in our threads

After the game you’ll get an Instant Recap, summarizing the main themes and stats of the evening.

After that you’ll get an Extended Recap, diving deep into the flow of the game, major points of interest, and analysis explaining why things went as they did.

During the preseason we omit the previews and Instant Recaps, as they’re unnecessary, but here’s your very first, super-early-so-you-can-get-amped-up Gameday Thread of the Year! Enjoy the game and Go Blazers!
