Damian Lillard ranks 7th in ESPN’s list of Top 100 NBA Players for 2020. The Trail Blazers guard got high praise from the four-letter network for his outstanding 2019-20 season and his fantastic run in late January where he averaged nearly 50 points per game over a two-week stretch.
Lillard’s scoring prowess salvaged what looked like a season lost to injuries for the Blazers. He put together one of the great stretches in NBA history in late January into February... Lillard was nearly as good in the bubble, winning Player of the Seeding Games for his 37.6 points and 9.6 assists as the Blazers climbed into the eighth seed.
The article also deemed Lillard “capable of carrying the load” for the rejuvenated Blazers in 2020-21.
Lillard finished just ahead of eight-place Steph Curry, just behind sixth-place Kevin Durant. Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks was the only point guard ranked ahead of Lillard. LeBron James and Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers took the first and second spots, respectively.
Lillard’s teammates Robert Covington (60), Jusuf Nurkic (53), and CJ McCollum (27) also cracked the Top 100. Lillard finished 9th in the 2019 rankings.
