Portland Trail Blazers big man Jusuf Nurkic is expected to miss Friday’s preseason game against the Sacramento Kings, according to Aaron Fentress of the Oregonian. Due to the center’s late return from Bosnia, he still has to pass through the NBA’s testing protocol prior to being able to play. Coach Terry Stotts said Nurkic would have to test negative twice before being able to play.

“I doubt that he plays,” Stotts said. “But in theory if he gets a negative test from Thursday’s testing he would probably be eligible to play Friday but I doubt that he plays.”

Nurkic entered the testing protocol later than other players due to dealing with family matters in his native Bosnia. It remains to be seen whether he will pass both tests.

The Blazers play the Kings twice over the weekend. The first game is slated for 7:30 PM on Friday. They face Sacramento again on Sunday at 6:00 PM.
