Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon is the kind of dynamic wing that could help elevate the Portland Trail Blazers’ roster. He’s often brought up in hypothetical trades, although there’s never been reported discussions of trade talks between the Blazers and Magic. According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the popular CJ McCollum-for-Gordon trade proposal hasn’t been discussed in a “serious way”:

The leaguewide interest level in Aaron Gordon is murkier. Brooklyn discussed chasing him in prior years, but that is probably moot now. He makes sense in Portland, though. NBA Twitter’s beloved Gordon-for-CJ McCollum swap has never been discussed in any serious way, sources say.

Lowe then went on to wonder if Portland could somehow land Gordon without giving up McCollum:

Could Portland pry Gordon away without surrendering McCollum? Does Zach Collins appeal to a team with Nikola Vucevic, Mo Bamba, and Jonathan Isaac? What about Anfernee Simons?

The topic of trading McCollum is often brought up every season by followers and media members, however Portland president of basketball operations Neil Olshey seems committed to the guard, whom he chose with the No. 10 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. The Ringer proposed a McCollum-for-Gordon swap in January 2019, citing that the trade would solve personnel problems for both teams.
