Kelly Olynyk To Stay In Miami While Knicks Clear Space

The NBA offseason is in full swing. News of contract decisions, trades and cap clearing procedures are swirling. Don’t worry, we have you covered. Here is a look at the action that has unfolded so far today.

Fresh off of a run to the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat’s Kelly Olynyk has opted to remain with the team, picking up his $13.6 million player option for the upcoming season, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks declined to pick up the team option on Bobby Portis while waiving Elfrid Payton and Taj Gibson, reports Shams Charania of the Athletic. The move clears up considerable space for the Knicks.

In Oklahoma City, Mike Muscala has decided to stay with the Thunder for the upcoming season.

The Denver Nuggets are looking abroad in order to sign Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo, who plays in the EuroLeague for Real Madrid.

In Los Angeles, the Lakers waived Quinn Cook, who only played with the team for one season.

The Brooklyn Nets will not be picking up the second year of Garrett Temple’s contract.

The Bucks are parting ways with Ersan Ilyasova.

JaVale McGee will stay with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Atlanta Hawks are trading Dewayne Dedmon to the Detroit Pistons for Khyri Thomas and Tony Snell.

Austin Rivers has opted out of his contract with the Houston Rockets.

According to The New York Times NBA Insider Marc Stein, the Knicks are interested in acquiring Celtics forward Gordon Hayward.

Out in the Western Conference, it appears that the Suns are parting ways with sharp-shooting big man Frank Kaminsky.

No surprise here, veteran forward James Johnson has decided to pick up the remaining $16 million option on his contract.

The Rockets are picking up the team option on David Nwaba’s current contract. The 27-year-old wing signed with the Rockets prior to the bubble.

Celtics forward Gordon Hayward is set to hit the open market.
