Speculation ran rampant regarding Klay Thompson’s potential leg injury, and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has confirmed the worst fears: Thompson tore his Achilles while practicing, which ends his 2020-21 season. Thompson sustained the injury to his right leg in a workout with fellow NBA players.

Thompson hasn’t played since tearing his left ACL during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals versus the Toronto Raptors. He missed all of the 2019-20 season due to the injury. Despite the injury, the Warriors signed Thompson to a five-year, $190 maximum contract in July 2019. Thompson had his ACL surgically repaired and has spent over a year working towards a return to play.
