The Portland Trail Blazers look prepared to enter the season with 14 players on their roster after signing veteran big man Pau Gasol in late July. With a roster spot open, Zach Harper of The Athletic (subscription required) suggested a couple of remaining free agents as possible fits in Portland.
Harper gave brief consideration to Joe Johnson and Kenneth Faried on the Blazers, and he suggested Jeremy Lin if Anfernee Simons struggles early in the season. But forward Lance Thomas seemed like Harper’s most-liked choice:
Where might he work? I love the idea of Thomas finding his way to Portland. He can’t replace what they lose with Al-Farouq Aminu, but he’s a good option next to what they have.
