Blazers’ Hood Chooses Continuity, Collins Focuses on Offense

The 2019-20 NBA season is nearly upon us and the lead up to the opening game hit full swing during the Trail Blazers media day. Along with the headliners of the current squad, several supporting contributors delivered their thoughts on the season ahead.

Hood’s Decision

Rodney Hood, who arrived in Portland just before the trade deadline, elaborated on his decision to re-sign with the Trail Blazers. The former Cavs forward discussed his comfort and faith in the organization when listing the reasons why he returned to Portland.

Collins’ Plan on Offense

Zach Collins admitted that he has not delivered consistently on offense early in his career. With that in mind, the former Gonzaga standout is focused on expanding past his defense-first billing. Collins also explained that he was able to return to the gym to work on his body while he was rehabbing the ankle injury he suffered in the offseason.

Hezonja’s Friendship with Nurkic

Mario Hezonja’s performance at media day should only add to his burgeoning fanbase in Portland. The former lottery pick detailed his friendship with Jusuf Nurkic and touched on how he is relieved to be a part of a stable organization.

New Year, New Role

After expressing relief over his height (he was confirmed at 6’3” without shoes), Anfernee Simons discussed how he is ready for an increased workload in his second season. Simons touched on the Blazers’ new cast of shooters and how that should open up space for everyone.
